PS Audio GCPH Phono Preamplifier

I do not recall ever listening to a component where the concept of diminishing returns was such a recurring theme. Diminishing returns is an economic principle that says where a basic function can be served at relatively low cost, small incremental improvements are gained at disproportional cost increases. In other words, it can cost a lot more for just a little improvement.

PS Audio HCA-2 Power Amplifier

Sometimes, there is a very small difference between the winner and the second place finisher. If we observe their actual performance, we may be unable to see any substantial difference at all. There is only a couple percent difference in the DNA of a man and a chimpanzee, but in this case, the difference is immediately obvious. Being close to the top of the food chain is not enough. Put another way, almost good enough...isn't.

PS Audio NuWave Phono Converter

The PS Audio NuWave Phono Converter is a very useful and, more importantly, very good sounding component for the digital age.

PS Audio Stellar S300 Stereo Power Amplifier

The new PS Audio Stellar S300 stereo amplifier is a delightful surprise. At a list price of only $1,499, the sound of the Stellar S300 has characteristics of some of the best amplifiers available, at any price.

PS Audio Ultimate Outlet vs. Shunyata Hydra 2 Power Conditioners

I am always reticent about recommending power products such as power cords and power conditioners. Their effects in my own environment vary greatly with different equipment and even with the time of day. Many components’ basic characters can change dramatically with different cords and conditioners, while with some other components, the differences are small or negligible.

PS Audio xStream Resolution Reference and Transcendent Interconnect Cables

Things are getting very interesting in the high-end audio arena, and you and I are the beneficiaries. We have seen new technologies introduced over the years with their high initial prices. We have watched as these state-of-the-art parts and manufacturing processes become more common and make their way into lower cost products.

PS Audio xStream Resolution Reference Speaker Cables

What do you expect from a speaker cable? Think about this for a moment and I am sure that you will find it in today’s very crowded cable marketplace. It seems that a new cable company is literally popping up every day to offer you their version of the best. “The Best” could be the best sound they can offer or the best value for the money.

QUAD Platinum Stereo Amplifier

The QUAD Platinum Stereo amplifier is the latest in a very long line of hi fi products from QUAD of England. QUAD, which is an acronym for Quality Unit Amplifier Domestic, has been making components since 1953 and has received many awards for the sound quality of their products, including the world-renowned Quad ESL loudspeakers and Quad II vacuum tube power amplifier.

Quicksilver V4 Power Amplifiers

This is not an easy review to write. For several months, the Quicksilver V4 amplifiers have been the primary amplifiers in my ever-changing audio system. I have connected them to four different preamplifiers and four different speakers, and numerous cables and power conditioners. I have replaced the Graham 2.2 tonearm with a Phantom on my Kuzma Stabi Reference turntable.

RCM Sensor 2 Phono Preamplifier

The new RCM Sensor 2 phono preamplifier follows the successful RCM Sensor Prelude IC that was reviewed here on 10 Audio in December, 2012. I did not have the older version on hand for direct comparison, but I will tell you this without qualification or reservation: The RCM Sensor 2 sounds wonderful.
